2020 BFA Thesis Project 

My thesis is driven by my interest in analyzing and highlighting cultural experiences that have shaped the journey of being first-generation Asian-American. This project channels my passion in politics and understanding cultural identity in a way that is relevant to myself. As designers, we also take up the role of being storytellers and this project tells the struggles as well as the triumphs of finding a balance between two cultures and existing In the Hyphen. Growing up as a First-Generation Asian-American, I often found it difficult to navigate my identity and didn’t see myself reflected a lot in artists that we learned about in school so I wanted to use this platform to bring more attention to this specific experience that is extremely common, but not often spoken about or recognized.
